WHAT IS THE PSYCHOANALYTIC METHOD?
There are many possible answers to this question. One of these is that psychoanalysis seeks to symbolically represent the emotional experiences that fill our lives, thus making them more understandable and less frightening. Our inner world is as unknown to us as the outer world, and what most intimately belongs to us is revealed only through the other. The ultimate goal, never entirely attainable, is to know and accept ourselves for who we are.
WHY CONSULT A PSYCHOANALYST?
Mental growth is neither an easy nor a natural process, which develops like a flower, given a sufficiently nutritious environment. The joint work between the two people we call analyst and patient allows human growth in terms of complexity, richness and self-integration to a level that the two minds alone could never achieve.
